The Horn Effect
The opposite is true too (Horn Effect). If someone is unattractive or has a bad accent, we assume they are incompetent. First impressions matter disproportionately because they create the Halo (or Horn) through which all later information is filtered.
Apple
Apple products have a “Halo Effect.” Because the iPod was cool, people assumed the Mac was good too. Success breeds success.
