Meeting cost is the combined time cost of attendees

A meeting is not free: it uses several people's working time at once. This calculator uses participants, average hourly rate, and elapsed time to show real-time labor cost and cost per second, helping teams be more deliberate about meeting size and duration.

Formulas

Cost per second

Cost/sec = participants × average hourly rate / 3600

Running cost

Hourly meeting cost

Hourly cost = participants × average hourly rate

How to use

  1. Enter the number of participants and average hourly rate.

Frequently asked questions

Do I enter salary or hourly rate?

The current component uses average hourly rate. If you have annual salary, divide by estimated annual working hours first.

Does it include preparation time?

No. It only counts timer duration. Preparation, follow-up, and context-switching costs should be considered separately.

Does a high cost mean the meeting is bad?

Not necessarily. Decision quality, alignment needs, and alternatives matter alongside the cost.
