Space feels difficult because the vocabulary arrives all at once: Sun, planet, moon, asteroid, comet, star, nebula, galaxy, black hole. The easier path is to organize everything by scale, gravity, and energy.
1. What the Solar System Is
The Solar System is not centered on Earth. It is centered on the Sun, whose gravity holds planets, moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, and comets in a shared system.

3. Why the Sun Shines
The Sun is not a burning fireball. It is a star powered by nuclear fusion. In its core, hydrogen nuclei fuse into helium and release energy. That energy becomes the light and heat that drive weather, ocean circulation, photosynthesis, and the rhythm of life on Earth.
4. Stars Have Life Cycles
Stars form inside clouds of gas and dust. Gravity pulls matter inward, pressure and temperature rise, and fusion begins. The most important variable is mass: massive stars burn brighter and die faster.
A star may end as a white dwarf, neutron star, or black hole depending on its mass and history.
5. What a Black Hole Is
A black hole is not a cosmic vacuum cleaner. It is a region where gravity is so strong that, inside a boundary called the event horizon, even light cannot easily escape.
