Calculation Basis

Based on Korean Labor Standards Act: <1 year = 1 day/month (max 11), 1+ year = 15 days, +1 day every 2 years after 3 years (max 25).

Annual leave depends on start date, service length, and days already used

PTO balances are not just a calendar-year number. For Korean annual leave, the hire date, continuous service period, accrual rules, and used days all matter. This calculator gives a practical estimate of accrued and remaining leave.

Calculation concepts

Under one year

Uses the common one-day-per-full-month accrual concept.

One year or more

Starts from 15 days and adds service-based extra days where applicable.

Remaining balance

Estimated accrued leave minus days already used.

How to use

  1. Enter your start date and the reference date for the calculation.
  2. Add any leave days you have already used.
  3. Compare the estimated accrued and remaining days with your employer's records.

Frequently asked questions

Can this differ from my company's fiscal-year system?

Yes. Employers may manage annual leave by fiscal year, which can require separate settlement from hire-date accrual.

What is the usual maximum annual leave?

Under the common Korean rule, annual leave is capped at 25 days after service-based additions, but eligibility should be checked for your employment situation.

How should I enter half-day leave?

Convert it to a day value, such as 0.5, so the remaining balance estimate reflects partial usage.
