第3講：形容詞と副詞 — 世界を描写する言葉の色彩

英語の文をより豊かに、より正確にするために欠かせないのが**形容詞（Adjective）と副詞（Adverb）**です。この2つをマスターすると、表現の幅が大きく広がります。

形容詞とは？

形容詞は名詞を修飾する語です。名詞の性質・状態・数量などを説明します。

形容詞の位置

英語の形容詞は主に2か所に置かれます：

補語として（be動詞の後など）	叙述用法	The flower is beautiful.

よくある形容詞の語順

複数の形容詞を並べるとき、一般的な語順があります：

数量 → 意見 → 大きさ → 年齢 → 形 → 色 → 出身 → 材料 + 名詞

副詞とは？

副詞は動詞・形容詞・他の副詞・文全体を修飾する語です。

修飾する語	例文

他の副詞	She works very hard.
文全体	Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

副詞の作り方

多くの副詞は形容詞に -ly をつけて作ります：

hard	hard	変化なし（hardlyは別の意味）

比較級と最上級

形容詞と副詞には**比較級（comparative）と最上級（superlative）**があります。

規則変化

carefully	more carefully	the most carefully

使い分けのルール：

• 1音節の語：-er / -est
• 2音節以上の語：more / most（例外あり）
• -y で終わる2音節語：-er / -est（happier, happiest）

比較の構文

よくあるミスと修正

• ❌ She sings good. → ✅ She sings well. （goodは形容詞、wellは副詞）
• ❌ He is more taller than me. → ✅ He is taller than me. （二重比較はダメ）
• ❌ This is the most cheapest. → ✅ This is the cheapest. （二重最上級もダメ）
