第9講：条件文を完全制覇 — ゼロ・第1・第2・第3条件文

「もし～なら、～だろう」という**条件文（Conditional Sentences）**は英語でよく使う表現です。4つのタイプをしっかり区別して使いこなしましょう！

4種類の条件文の全体像

タイプ	if節	主節	用途
ゼロ条件	現在単純形	現在単純形	常に真実・一般的事実
第1条件	現在単純形	will + 原形	現実的な未来の可能性
第2条件	過去単純形	would + 原形	非現実・仮定（現在/未来）
第3条件	過去完了形	would have + 過去分詞	過去の非現実（後悔・推測）

ゼロ条件文（Zero Conditional）

常に真実であること、科学的事実、一般的習慣を表します。

構造：If + 現在単純形, 現在単純形

• If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.（水を100度に熱すると沸騰する）
• If you don’t eat, you get hungry.（食べないとお腹が空く）
• If I’m late, I take a taxi.（遅れるときはタクシーに乗る）

第1条件文（First Conditional）

現実的な未来の可能性を表します。実際に起こりうることです。

構造：If + 現在単純形, will + 動詞原形

• If it rains tomorrow, I will stay home.
• If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
• If she calls, please tell her I’m busy.

第2条件文（Second Conditional）

現在・未来において非現実・仮定的な状況を表します。

構造：If + 過去単純形, would + 動詞原形

• If I had a million dollars, I would travel the world.（実際には持っていない）
• If she were taller, she would be a model.（実際はそうではない）
• What would you do if you won the lottery?

第3条件文（Third Conditional）

過去において実際とは異なった状況を仮定する表現。後悔・推測によく使います。

構造：If + 過去完了形, would have + 過去分詞

• If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.（実際は落ちた）
• If she hadn’t been late, she would have caught the train.（実際は乗り遅れた）
• I would have helped you if you had asked me.

混合条件文（Mixed Conditional）

過去の状況が現在の結果に影響する場合：

構造：If + 過去完了形（過去の仮定）, would + 原形（現在の結果）

• If I had taken that job, I would be rich now.（あの時就職していれば、今頃裕福だろう）
• If she hadn’t moved abroad, she would be here with us now.

よくあるミスと修正

• ❌ If I would have more time, I would help.（第2条件の if節にwouldは不可） → ✅ If I had more time, I would help.
• ❌ If I would study harder, I would pass. → ✅ If I studied harder, I would pass.
• ❌ If she would not have been late, she would have caught the train. → ✅ If she had not been late, …
